CodeRED is a weekend long hackathon held annually at the University of Houston, and unleashes the skills of hundreds of students from across Texas and the world to solve problems, create new content, and engage in a 24 hour marathon of creation, problem-solving and fun.
A hackathon is a fast-paced programming competition in which students are encouraged to participate in sponsor challenges, but CodeRED participants themselves decide what to work on. Many build on their own ideas to design and create their own projects. Sponsors can judge and vote on projects and determine winners, but all participants have plenty of opportunities to earn prizes and swag , learn cutting-edge technologies and network with other hackers.
In addition to programming, CodeRED offers gaming, snacks, raffles, mentoring, tech talks, and workshops.
CodeRED is sanctioned by MLH (Major League Hacking), the official student hackathon league.
The event takes place Saturday and Sunday, November 21st and 22nd, 2015, on the 1st and 3rd floors of the University of Houston’s Classroom and Business Building (CBB) 4742 Calhoun Rd. Houston, TX 77204. For more information check out CodeRED’s offical site at https://uhcode.red/
